As a young man, he lived at the Harvard Indian College, in Cambridge, and taught in Nipmuc "praying towns." Puritan chroniclers accused James of "revolting" from "his master," Greene, on the eve of war, but the story of James and his brothers is much more complex that they would have us believe.
